Program Details/Learning Goals:

The objective of the Midstream Petroleum Engineering Certificate program is to train graduate students to gain core competency for application of engineering solutions relative to real-world problems in the midstream oil and natural gas industry. Upon completion of the certificate program, the student will be able to:

  • Apply engineering solutions to monitor and maintain midstream oil and natural gas facilities.
  • Perform analysis for optimization of midstream oil and natural gas operations.

Midstream Petroleum Engineering Graduate Certificate Admission Requirements

  • Earned a B.S. degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited or an internationally recognized engineering program, or a B.S. degree in an equivalent field with a grade point average (GPA) equal to, or greater than, 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Experience in the field may be considered for admission depending on length and type of experience.
  • International students must demonstrate proficiency in communicating in English (a minimum TOEFL score of 550, or IBT score of 79, or IELTS score of 6.5). Students who have completed a recent four-year bachelor’s degree in the United States of America need not submit these scores.
  • At least one recommendation letter from an academic or professional reference.

Only courses with grades of "A," "B," or "C" can be used to meet the coursework requirements. To be in good standing, a regular student must maintain at least a cumulative GPA of 3.0 grade point average for all certificate program courses. Students whose cumulative GPA falls below 3.0 will be placed on academic probation. If the GPA is not brought up to 3.0 by the end of the following semester, the student will be suspended from the program. Students who are suspended from the program will not be allowed to enroll in program courses for one year.
