What sets CCAM's online programs apart from others?
CCAM’s online degrees are designed to keep pace with today’s evolving industry demands. These programs offer the convenience of asynchronous learning and foster meaningful engagement among students, instructors, and alumni. The curriculum is reviewed and updated each semester, so courses remain relevant and equip students with the skills employers seek in today’s workforce.
Our courses are taught by experienced faculty and practitioners who are actively working in their respective fields. They bring valuable real-world perspectives into the online environment. Assignments mirror real-world scenarios, allowing students to apply what they learn to the challenges professionals in the industry face. Whether developing a marketing campaign, analyzing case studies, or crafting strategic communication plans, our students gain hands-on experience that translates into workplace-ready skills.
Students also benefit from personalized support every step of the way. From the moment they inquire about the program, an admissions consultant guides them through the application and admissions process. Once admitted, a dedicated academic advisor continues that support through to graduation, helping students stay on track and achieve their goals.
What are some common questions you get from prospective students?
Students want to ensure they’re making the right choice, so they often ask what our programs can offer them and what makes WVU stand out in today’s competitive environment. We explain that our programs are designed to support them at every stage of their academic and professional journey. We’re here for them from the initial inquiry and enrollment process, through their time as students, graduation, and even beyond! We have a dedicated team ready to provide personalized support to meet whatever needs or goals that students may have.
Another common concern is whether they’ll be able to manage a graduate program while working full time or balancing family responsibilities. We reassure them that it is absolutely possible. Many of our students successfully complete the program while holding full time jobs. With discipline, time management, and the built-in flexibility of our programs, students are well-positioned to succeed.
Can you share a story about a student who found success through one of your online programs?
One student who stands out is Wheeler Brunschmid, a Spring 2025 graduate of our M.S. IMC + DINFOS cohort. Within a week of finishing his final course, he was promoted from digital media producer to assistant chief of information and began using what he learned in the program immediately.
How do you help students determine which program is the best fit for them and what they want to achieve?
The first step is always to listen. Every student comes from a unique background and has their own set of goals, so it’s important to understand their individual circumstances and aspirations. From there, we ask thoughtful questions to help guide them toward a program that aligns with their interests and career objectives.
For example, within our Marketing Communications graduate programs, we offer three distinct options: Integrated, Data, and Digital. We ask students what aspects of marketing they’re most passionate about whether it's creative strategy, analytics, or digital media and then explain the focus and benefits of each track. We provide the information they need to make an informed decision, but ultimately, we empower them to choose the path that feels right for them.
Ultimately, we aim to equip students with the tools and confidence to grow professionally whether that means advancing in their current field or successfully pivoting to a new one.
What kinds of careers do graduates of CCAM’s online programs pursue after graduation?
Many graduates already work in the industry and use their new degree to advance within their current organizations. They use the skills they’ve gained to move up the corporate ladder into leadership, management, or specialized roles. We base our curriculum on the principle “learn it today, apply it tomorrow.” Other graduates take the entrepreneurial path by leveraging what they’ve learned to start their own businesses. Ultimately, we aim to equip students with the tools and confidence to grow professionally whether that means advancing in their current field or successfully pivoting to a new one.
What kind of support is available to online students? Both day-to-day and in terms of career support?
CCAM’s online students receive support from the moment they inquire about a program until long after graduation. Every student is paired with an admissions consultant who provides one-on-one guidance throughout the application and admissions process. Once accepted into a program, students are introduced to their academic advisor, who remains their primary point of contact, helping them select courses, stay on track academically, and connect with university resources.
Day-to-day, students have access to a wide range of services designed to make online learning smooth and engaging. These include technical support, tutoring, library resources, writing assistance, and opportunities to connect with instructors and peers through discussion boards and virtual meetings.
Beyond academics, CCAM also offers career development support. Students can take advantage of resume and portfolio reviews, career coaching, and networking opportunities with alumni and industry professionals. This combination of academic, personal, and professional support ensures that CCAM’s online students are not only successful in their coursework but also well-prepared for career advancement after graduation.
How do faculty engage with online students?
The faculty in CCAM’s online programs are committed to creating a dynamic and supportive learning experience. They engage with students regularly through discussion boards, phone calls, virtual office hours, and personalized feedback on assignments. Instructors foster collaboration and a sense of community by promoting open dialogue and connecting course concepts to real-world industry applications.
Because many faculty are active professionals in their fields, they bring current, practical insights into the classroom and often share experiences and case studies from their own work. This approach helps students see how course material applies directly to the challenges and opportunities they’ll encounter in their careers. Our motto is “learn it today, apply it tomorrow,” reflecting our focus on practical, real-world learning that students can immediately put into practice in their careers.
Through consistent communication and emphasis on mentorship, CCAM’s faculty ensure that online students feel connected, supported, and fully engaged throughout their academic journey.
