The Healthcare Master of Business Administration (HMBA) is designed for individuals seeking a career in the healthcare field or current professionals aiming to expand their skillset for leadership roles within their organizations. The healthcare industry requires trained leaders to manage diverse teams, navigate the complexities of healthcare business, lead through challenging transitions, and provide innovative solutions to improve the healthcare system, ultimately supporting positive health outcomes. Our HMBA program is specifically crafted for those aspiring to enter the healthcare industry or current professionals looking to formalize and enhance their business acumen for leadership roles.

Curriculum

Our program is designed to equip you with comprehensive skills in healthcare management, integrating financial and managerial expertise across business functions. Through our learning goals, you will develop the ability to make informed decisions, communicate effectively, and lead ethically in the healthcare environment.

  • Learning Goal 1: Students will be able to integrate both managerial and financial expertise across the various business functional areas while applying a healthcare lens.
  • Learning Goal 2: Students will be able to identify problems, collect appropriate data and analyze the data to make informed healthcare management decisions.
  • Learning Goal 3: Students will be able to effectively communicate and articulate a succinct business analysis in a healthcare environment.
  • Learning Goal 4: Students will be able to make healthcare management, personnel and patient-based decisions in an inclusive, ethically sensitive and socially responsible manner.
  • Learning Goal 5: Students will be an effective healthcare leader who influences people toward the attainment of organizational goals and benefits all stakeholders.

Admissions Requirements and Eligibility

Successful completion of a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.

Admissions Process and How to Apply

  • Create a username and password
  • Once an account has been created, applicants can edit the application at their discretion. Please complete all questions asked.
  • Upload an up-to-date resume.
  • Request 1 letter of recommendation through the online portal.
    • Individual letters should not exceed one page.
  • Create a Statement of Purpose (not to exceed one page).
  • Pay application fee.
  • Submit application.
  • Applicants will then need to send their transcripts to WVU's Office of Admissions.
    • If the applicant's undergraduate school offers "e-script" (an official electronic copy of transcripts), email the transcripts to  GraduateAdmissions@mail.wvu.edu. This will help expedite the admissions process.
    • If they do not offer this service, please have your official transcripts mailed to: WVU Hub P.O. Box 6004 Morgantown, WV 26506
  • International Students - WVU’s minimum score requirements for English proficiency are:
    • Academic  IELTS: 6.5
    • TOEFL iBT: 79
    • TOEFL Essentials: 9.0
    • PTE Academic: 53
    • Duolingo English Test: 105
    • An official grade report must be sent directly to: WVU Hub 62, Morrill Way - Suite 220, Morgantown WV, 26506
