The WVU John Chambers School of Business and Economics offers the Online Hybrid MBA program for working professionals who want the convenience and flexibility of online learning from a nationally recognized university. WVU’s program has been ranked in the top 50 online MBA programs by U.S. News and World Report for six consecutive years and is continually recognized as a "Best for Vets" program by Military Times. To enhance experiential learning, residencies are built into the program. There is one residency at the beginning of the program and one in a subsequent fall or spring semester. During our residencies, you will connect what you learn in the classroom to tangible issues and develop confidence in what you know and what you can do. As well as experiential learning, these experiences will provide interaction with faculty and networking opportunities with peers. WVU business programs are recognized as Best Online Programs 2021 by US News and World Report.

Admission Requirements

Successful completion of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and two years of professional work experience requirement.


Applicants must be admitted to WVU as a graduate student.

Online, not-for-credit classes in Financial Accounting, Economics, and Statistical Concepts through Ivy Software are recommended for those without a strong background in these disciplines.

  • Enter the WVU Application portal.
  • Create a username and password.
  • Once an account has been created, applicants can edit the application at their discretion. Please complete all questions asked.
  • When selecting a start term, choose "fall" or "spring" semester, depending on your preference.
  • Upload an up-to-date resume.
  • Request 1 letter of recommendation through the online portal. Individual letters should not exceed one page.
  • Create a Statement of Purpose (not to exceed one page).
  • Pay application fee.
  • Submit application.
  • Applicants will then need to send their transcripts to WVU's Office of Admissions. If the applicant's undergraduate school offers "e-script" (an official electronic copy of transcripts), email the transcripts to This will help expedite the admissions process. If they do not offer this service, please have your official transcripts mailed to:

  • International Students are required to submit a TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo score. The John Chambers College of Business & Economics TOEFL requirement is higher than the University's--applicants must have a TOEFL score of either 580 (paper prior to July 27) or 68 (paper after July 27), 237 (computer), or 92 (Internet-based). If you have taken the IELTS, the minimum score must be 6.5, and the minimum Duolingo score is a 105. English language exam scores should be sent to:
