Holly M. Hale is a teacher for Wyoming County Schools (WV). She has been a student with WVU Online since transferring in 2016 from Southern WV Community/Technical College—where she, too, was an online learner for most of her associate’s degree.
Prior to college, Ms. Hale graduated Westside High School in 2014 with numerous accomplishments—National Honor Society, Brain Trust, Honor Roll, Yearbook, and Spanish. She is from Oceana, Wyoming County, WV where she resides with her mother (Karen) and three dogs (Lulu, Gigi, & Lily Beth).
As an online student with WVU, Holly has received scholarships—Jennifer M. Baxter Memorial Scholarship, Jessee F.B. Lilly Scholarship, and the WVU Transfer Scholarship—and many merit-based tuition waivers. She’s also been an active member of the WVU Online community, having been a member of the WVU Higher Education Student Association and participating in a remote internship with WVU Alumni Association (specifically, the Director of Alumni Engagement).
Online learning was also an important decision due to her health, as Holly has lived with Hashimoto’s Disease since 2012—an autoimmune disease that affects the thyroid.
In her free time, Holly likes to travel, try new restaurants, research genealogy, watch movies, volunteer in the local community, and attend church at Lighthouse Community Church where she is a founding member.
