Master of Science in Physical Education Teacher Education

Overview

The Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) degree, offered by the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences, is offered fully online and designed for teachers with demanding schedules who need to balance work, family, and education. The curriculum is aligned with advanced teaching standards (Professional Knowledge, Practice and Leadership) established by the Society for Health and Physical Educators and is ideal for teachers seeking professional development and career advancement. The unique sequencing of theoretical courses and applied labs allows teachers to apply concepts immediately with learners in their own K-12 classrooms. Some states and school districts may provide an endorsement for certified teachers upon completion of the program and after passing content area exams such as the PRAXIS II. This is a non-licensure program in WV, however, and does not provide initial teaching certification in physical education.

*This is not a licensure program and will not provide initial teaching certification in physical education.
