Blair Shea chose WVU Online to complete her degree in General Business because she had a full-time job and her schedule did not allow her to take a lot of time off for schoolwork.

“My major was based on the availability of classes offered online, but the offered classes were ones I could take with limited direction,” she says.

Blair enjoyed interacting with other students through online discussions, and also group projects.

“Feeling engaged with the faculty or the course material was sometimes an issue, but most of the time I could overcome it with self-rewards. I would just have to remind myself why I was completing this degree and motivate myself.”

She recommends WVU Online to other students because of the real-life lessons she learned.

“It has helped me with many different kinds of problems, from scheduling to spreading myself too thin.

“It is 100% worth it and you can succeed,” she says. “The professors really care and are always there to help when needed.”

1. Biggest Challenge
Sometimes the challenge was just connecting with the information. Whenever you get home from a long day at work, you do not really want to do anything. I had to come up with a little game, so that whenever completed something that was due, I would reward myself.

2. Things She Didn’t Expect
How helpful everyone was and the encouragement I received. I did not encounter one professor who did not go above and beyond what was expected for the class.

3. How Online Learning Prepared Her for the Future
TIME MANAGEMENT. The best part about taking classes online is learning time management. This has helped me a lot in the real world.

4. Her “Big Three” Things Learned from Online Classes
Time management, organization, and written communication.

5. WVU Campus Resources She Found Helpful
Mostly just communicating with professors.

6. Most Memorable Online Class Experience
The most memorable part was completing journal entries and being able to connect them to real-life experiences.
