Military Education Counts
Credit for Military Learning
Your military education and training may help you get closer to graduation before you even take your first class.
WVU evaluates military transcripts, including the Joint Services Transcript (JST) and Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) transcript, to determine whether prior military education may be applied toward your degree program.
Applicable transfer credit is awarded in accordance with university policies and the academic requirements of your chosen program.

Military life often means new assignments, changing schedules, and relocating across the country or around the world. WVU’s online programs are designed to move with you.
Our fully online programs allow students to:
- Continue their education through Permanent Change of Station (PCS) moves.
- Learn from anywhere with an internet connection.
- Balance coursework alongside military service and family responsibilities.
- Continue progressing toward graduation without relocating to campus.
No matter where you’re stationed, your education can continue.
We also understand that military obligations can change unexpectedly. If you receive deployment or other military orders after registering for or starting classes, support is available.
Active Duty Deployment
Active duty servicemembers deployed during a course should contact your instructor, academic advisor, and the Center for Veteran, Military and Family Programs as soon as possible. They will work with you to review your options, navigate applicable university policies, and help you determine the best path forward based on your individual circumstances.Partnerships for Direct Pathways

Air University Associate-to-Baccalaureate Cooperative (AU-ABC)
WVU is proud to participate in the Air University Associate-to-Baccalaureate Cooperative (AU-ABC), a partnership that creates a seamless pathway for Airmen and Guardians who have earned—or are working toward—a Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) associate degree.
Through the AU-ABC program, eligible students can:
- Transfer the maximum number of applicable CCAF credits.
- Complete an approved bachelor’s degree with no more than 60 additional semester hours.
- Earn their degree entirely online.
- Continue their education while serving or after transitioning from military service.
Whether your goal is promotion, commissioning, or preparing for a civilian career, AU-ABC helps you move forward without starting over.

Defense Information School (DINFOS)
For decades, WVU has partnered with DINFOS to provide military public affairs, visual information, and communication professionals with opportunities to continue their education online.
Military communicators can build upon the leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills developed through military service while pursuing degrees that support both military advancement and civilian career opportunities.
