There will be free food, lots of games, and prizes up to $250 offered for West Virginia University students taking classes in Morgantown this summer. Students taking summer classes are invited to a Hawaiian-themed luau 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, at the Mountainlair. The Luau will take place on the Mountainlair Plaza with the inclement weather location set for the Mountainlair First Floor.
The student radio station, U92, will be broadcasting live while student enjoy pork sliders, Hawaiian coleslaw, fruit, vegetables, Hawaiian punch, and "mocktails" at the Tiki bar.
There will be gifts for the first 200 students of WVU-branded merchandise that has been donated by Extended Learning, the College of Business and Economics, the College of Physical Activity and Sport Science, the School of Nursing, the College of Education and Human Services, the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, Adventure West Virginia and many others.
As part of the Hawaiian luau, students (teams of two) are encouraged to sign up for the Mountaineer Games. The teams will be participating in a round of (1) hula hoop (2) corn hole (3) Limbo, and a (4) mini-obstacle course all to win a prize package valued at $250. Students can make a difference and make a few new friends this summer with opportunities to volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House and give blood for the American Red Cross. A registration table will be set up at the luau.
